The Fall 2014 runways were abundant with reinvented retro looks that gave a serious nod to mod. The trick to embracing the throwback trend is modernizing the look- keep it casual, not costume. Our girl Danielle Cirilli does a modern take on graphic brushstroke lids to perfectly suit the new back-to-school wardrobe you just splurged on. Whether you’re sporting heavily inked lids, or crisply lined lashes, the best accessory for these wide-eyed sixties looks is confidence. Go forth and get graphic!
A bold, overdrawn dramatic eye is your new ‘going out’ go-to, trust us. Begin by applying a lightweight primer to eyelids to maximize your look’s staying power. Use a pencil to outline the shape of your eye, from lash to crease. Create a large angular wing beyond the outer corner of your eyes, and down past the inner corners. Fill in shape with a black charcoal shadow, then smudge liner into shadow to create a seamless shade. Add a dab of highlight shadow to the inner corners of eyes. Groom brows and keep the rest neutral—dramatically defined eyes call for minimal makeup on the cheeks and lips.
Slick, Sleek and to the Point
Give your bold eye look the attention it deserves by keeping hair pushed back and sleek. Prep your strands with a thickening spray, blow out and part down the center. Rub a matte workable wax in your hands and rake through hair at the root. Push hair back and use light hold spray to set the cool, androgynous look.
