Rebecca Rivera, the designer/founder of IRISHLATINA, creates clothing that is meant to be seen and Instagrammed. In an age where social media is influencing fashion, and vice versa, IRISHLATINA is making its stamp online in IRL with bold type and vibrant prints that mimc your Insta feed. After all, if you wear a cute outfit, and no one Instagrams it, did it ever happen? The young designer filled us in on everything from inspo, to style icons, to her design process.

Last thing you Googled? "Most expensive cities in the U.S." Guess which was #1.
Style icon? 93-year-old Iris Apfel
Favorite item in your closet? My mothers denim overalls from the '70s. They're high-waisted and bell bottomed.
Best place to find inspiration? The streets of NYC. Fingers crossed I'll see Iris.
Favorite decade? The 1940s and the 1970s, for all the reasons a Google search has to offer.
Celebrity crush? Kiko Mizuhara
How do you describe your style? One-part old lady, two-parts 5-year-old, with a dash of teen angst.
Favorite show of all time? Vikings, Ancient Aliens, Project Runway (Cause who can choose just one?)
Who’s on your playlist? Tanlines, Major Lazer, Kendrick Lamar, Odesza
Where can we find you on a Friday night? You can find me slinging drinks at a beautiful bar in the lower east side.
Drink of choice? Tequila. Tequila. Tequila.
What are you reading right now? The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Who do you Insta-Stalk? Natasha Oakley (@tashoakley) of "A Bikini A Day"
Favorite fashion moment? Bjork in her swan dress.
How would you describe your design process? It's different with every collection. Sometimes I'll start with a silhouette/shape for the garments and work from there. Sometimes I'll start by sketching from the inspiration of my mood board. Sometimes I'll go hunting for fabric first, and base every look around the prints and color of the fabrics.
How would you describe your design aesthetic? The Irishlatina brand offers combinations of theatrical and practical; a marriage of street wear and high fashion.
What’s your favorite part of the design process? When things don't go the way I planned, because they always turn out better.
What’s your biggest accomplishment so far? Staging my very first fashion show this past December.
What do you hope to accomplish in the next year? Launching the Irishlatina online shop, and beginning production in downtown LA.
